In the late afternoon today Wednesday September 21st, 2022 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Amsterdam Police and Amsterdam Fire were dispatched to the intersection of Van Dyke Avenue and Ramsey Avenue via 911 for the report of a serious personal injury motor vehicle accident involving an electric bicycle and a motor vehicle. A preliminary investigation was conducted by members of the Amsterdam Police Detective Bureau including a canvass for area surveillance footage as well as interviews of potential witnesses in the area. The roadway has since been opened back up to traffic. The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as they become available.
