Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of September 12-18, 2022

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were three robberies during the past week.

On Thursday, 09-15-22, at approximately 12:50 p.m., Officer Coll and Officer Andrade were dispatched to Macy’s on a report of a robbery. A loss prevention officer saw a male and female enter the store. The male took fragrances, placed them into his bag, and then left the store without paying. The loss prevention officer tried to stop the suspect and was struck in the forehead, which caused a contusion. The suspect had a tattoo above his right eyebrow. The suspects left the store with the fragrances valued at approximately $500.

On Thursday, 09-15-22, at approximately 8:35 p.m., the manager of Joann Fabrics saw an unknown suspect enter the store, take some fabric, and place it on his shoulder. The manager said she told the suspect twice “to keep the fabric with the bolt.” The suspect said to the manager, “I’m going to stab you with my knife.” The manager stepped back and called the police. The manager did not see a knife. The suspect walked towards the entrance, threw ornaments at the manager, and then left the store with the fabric and a Fiskars box, valued at approximately $110. The suspect was described as a dark-skinned male wearing dark pants, a black Nike top, and a multicolored hooded jacket. This investigation is continuing.

On Sunday, 09-18-22, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Officer Smithmatungol and Officer Todaro were dispatched to the unit block of Hillside Boulevard on a report of a victim screaming for help because he was attacked. The victim stated that 4-6 unknown Black males punched and kicked him multiple times and then stole his iPhone 13 Pro Max, wallet, and $60-$70 cash. The victim suffered abrasions, bruising, and a suspected broken nose.

Residential Burglaries

There was one residential burglary during the past week.

On Wednesday, 09-14-22, at approximately 12:50 p.m., Officer Gregorio and Officer Yee were dispatched to the unit block of 3rd Avenue on a report of a strong arm robbery, which turned out to be a burglary. A black SUV, possibly a BMW, stopped in front of a residence. A tall thin White female in her 50s with short blonde hair wearing white pants and a white long-sleeve blouse exited the passenger side of the vehicle. There was also another suspect in the driver’s seat. The female suspect walked into the garage, approached a female victim and stated that she was from a church, it was her mother’s birthday, and to pray for her mother. While saying this, the suspect placed four gold bangles on the victim’s left wrist and three different color bracelets on the victim’s right wrist. The suspect also put a gold chain around the victim’s neck and two gold rings on her right fingers. The suspect then asked for a glass of water. When the victim went upstairs to get water, the victim's husband entered the garage. The suspect placed a gold and green bracelet on his right wrist and a gold chain around his neck. The suspect then entered the car and drove away towards Price Street. The husband discovered that his gold chain, valued at approximately $620, was missing from his neck. After the husband told the victim, she discovered that her gold chain, valued at approximately $1,110, was also missing.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
