Personal Watercraft Operator Suffers Majors Injuries After Colliding with Another Watercraft

INCIDENT: Major Injury Boating Collision
LOCATION: Colorado River, near Needles Marina
SUMMARY: On September 23, 2022, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement deputies responded to a report of a boating collision on the Colorado River, in the area of the Needles Marina. Through investigation and witness statements, it was determined a solo occupied personal watercraft collided with a watercraft traveling south along the river. The male operator of the personal watercraft sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. The man was transported by ambulance to the Lake Havasu Regional Medical Center for further treatment. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Marine Enforcement Unit would like to remind all personal watercraft operators to be aware of their surroundings prior to making any turning movements, to ensure they are operating safely.
