Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) robbery detectives arrested 30-year-old Kyle Allen and 28-year-old Alyissa Hawkins on Saturday, September 24, 2022, following a comprehensive investigation for their alleged role in a series of strong-armed robberies.

Robbery detectives with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Violent Crime Task Force (VCTF) and IMPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team were conducting a follow-up investigation on a vehicle believed to have been involved in a series of strong-armed robberies. Detectives observed a male exit the suspect vehicle, run up on a woman walking to her car and physically remove her purse from her shoulder before running back to the suspect vehicle. Within minutes, IMPD SWAT conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and Allen and Hawkins were taken into custody without incident. The victim’s bank card was recovered from Hawkins’s bra. The victim’s social security card and Hoosier Works card were located on the ground outside the driver door of the suspect’s vehicle. Investigators located the victim’s purse was located in a dumpster in the Stone Lake apartments, where the suspect vehicle had stopped following the robbery. Allen and Hawkins were transported to IMPD headquarters for interviews.

During the interview, Hawkins confessed to the strong-armed robberies at the Walmart, as well as an incident that occurred that earlier in the night at a Kroger. Allen denied knowledge of the incident. Allen and Hawkins were both arrested for strong-armed robbery.
