Traffic Advisory for Santa Clara's Historic Downtown - Saturday, October 1

The Parade of Champions and associated festivities will take place on Saturday, October 1 through Santa Clara's Historic Downtown. The day includes the Farmer’s Market (8 a.m. – 1 p.m.), Community Village (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.), Parade (11 a.m. – 1 p.m.) and Salsa in the Streets (1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.). Event information can be found at www.scparadeofchampions.org.

- Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted along the parade route. Vehicles parked along the parade route will be ticketed and towed. The traffic fine, tow company release fee and storage costs vary and start at $150-200, therefore plan accordingly.

If your vehicle has been towed, it will be at one of the following locations:

- The parade route is approximately 0.75 miles and will start at Monroe Street at Market Street. It will move north along Monroe Street, turn right at Harrison Street and end at the corner of Washington and Harrison Streets

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.:

- Market Street, between Madison Street and Lafayette Street

- Harrison Street, between Monroe Street and Lafayette Street

- Fremont Street, between Monroe Street and Lafayette Street

- Washington Street, between Lewis Street and Benton Street and Market Street to Lafayette Street

- Monroe Street will be closed between Harrison Street and Manchester Drive

For planning purposes, utilize El Camino Real, Lincoln and Lafayette Streets for vehicular travel.

- From approximately 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Monroe Street will be closed between Benton Street to Homestead Road

- The event organizer has secured parade participant, attendee and ADA parking as follows:

- ADA parking - 1285 Homestead Road

- Attendee parking - street parking and Santa Clara University lot at 1063 Alviso Street

- Parade participant parking - street parking and Buchser Middle School (1111 Bellomy Street). Bus parking will be available at 1000 Lafayette Street 

- Residents and businesses, please plan accordingly. With the exception of emergency personnel, vehicles will not be able to enter or exit the event footprint

- Walking, bicycling, carpooling, ride-share and public transportation are strongly encouraged for attendees, participants and volunteers

- Do not block driveways, fire hydrants or crosswalks in residential neighborhoods, and dispose of your personal trash

- Amplified sound (e.g. public address, pre-recorded and live music) will occur during event hours

- Be observant and monitor your environment. If you notice suspicious objects or observe suspicious behavior, report this information to local law enforcement immediately. In an emergency, dial 9-1-1. For non-emergency situations requiring police, fire or medical attention call (408)615-5580.
