Green Bay Police Cite Four Store Cashiers during Tobacco/Vape Compliance Checks
The Green Bay Police Department has cited cashiers from four of seventeen west side businesses for failing to ID minors during unannounced tobacco/vape compliance checks conducted on the evening of Monday, September 26, 2022.
The Police Department went to gas stations and vape shops during this recent effort to help combat issues of tobacco and vape use in schools. The cashiers who had sold either tobacco or vape products during the compliance checks to underage teens each received citations in the amount of $376.00.
The businesses that had cashiers cited for non-compliance are as follows:
- Elf’s Gifts: 1132 S. Military Avenue
- Glass Monkey Smokeshops West: 406 S. Military Avenue
- Marley’s Smoke Shop: 1119 W. Mason Street
- Stone Ridge Shell: 1053 Velp Avenue
Note: The citations issued are pending in Green Bay Municipal Court.
The Green Bay Police Department would like to thank the thirteen business that had cashiers pass the compliance checks by asking for identification and not selling tobacco or vape products to minors.
This initiative is in partnership with the Community Action for Healthy Living, a non-profit coalition that works on tobacco prevention efforts in Northeast Wisconsin. The coalition will be following up with the seventeen businesses involved in the compliance checks.
