Sheriff’s Office Detectives Investigating Overnight Homicide Near Modesto Airport

Major Crimes Unit homicide detectives are currently investigating a late overnight homicide which took place near the Modesto Airport.
On Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 3:43 a.m., patrol deputies with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection of Mitchell Road and South Riverside Drive in unincorporated Modesto on the report of an assault with a deadly weapon shooting incident.
Upon arrival, they located the victim of an apparent gunshot wound. The adult male was transported to a local area hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to those injuries.
Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit responded to the crime scene and assumed control of the investigation. We ask members of the public to contact Detective Blewett at 209-857-2264 should they have additional information to share.
