Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of September 19-25, 2022

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.  
 
  
Robberies
 
There were no robberies during the past week.
 
 
Residential Burglaries
 
There were no residential burglaries during the past week.
 
 
Commercial Burglaries
 
There were three commercial burglaries during the past week.
 
On Wednesday, 09-21-22, at approximately 9:37 a.m., Officer Barba was dispatched to the Shell gas station on Gellert Boulevard on a report of a theft. The cashier stated that a suspect came in to ask for assistance with regards to a propane tank. The cashier asked another employee to assist this suspect who was described as a heavyset Black male, 5’10”, wearing a black hat, black hoodie, a jersey underneath the hoodie, gray sweatpants, and a blue surgical mask. While the cashier was assisting customers, he heard a noise from behind him. The cashier turned around and noticed another suspect on the floor pulling Lottery Scratchers. This suspect was described as a medium build Black male, 6’0”, wearing a navy jacket, washed blue jeans, and red shoes. This suspect pulled out rolls of Lottery tickets, worth approximately $1,000, out of the countertop and left in a Chevy sedan towards Callan Boulevard. This investigation is continuing.
 
On Thursday, 09-22-22, between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., an unknown suspect broke the lock to a locker in the men’s locker room at the Planet Fitness facility. The subject stole keys, an iPhone, a belt, pants, and a wallet containing $15, a driver’s license, and credit cards. This investigation is continuing.
 
Between Friday, 09-23-22, at approximately 8:40 p.m., and Saturday, 09-24-22, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Little Hunan Restaurant was burglarized. The front glass door was shattered by a suspect. The business owner stated that approximately $100 and miscellaneous bank statements were stolen from the register counter. The cost to replace the front door is estimated to be about $1,000.  
 
 
Vehicle Burglaries   
 
There were four vehicle burglaries reported during the past week.
 

  • Parking lot of Original Joe’s—a trash can and a backpack containing textbooks, a calculator, and a wallet were taken from a 2017 Toyota Highlander. The rear passenger side window was broken. Occurred on 09-21-22 between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
 
  • Parking lot of CVS Pharmacy on Pierce Street—a black PUMA backpack containing a black hooded sweatshirt was taken from a 2012 Chevy Volt. The front passenger side window was smashed. Occurred on 09-22-22 at approximately 10:59 a.m.
 
  • Parking lot of Serramonte Shopping Center near Dick’s Sporting Goods—an iPad was taken from a 2012 Toyota Prius. The rear driver’s side window was broken. Occurred on 09-22-22 at approximately 4:34 p.m.
 
  • Unit block of Park Plaza Drive—a wallet containing a Hawaii driver’s license, U.S. passport, Costco card, debit and bank cards, and $1,400 was taken from a 1998 GMC Sonoma. Unknown method of entry. Occurred on 09-25-22 between 11:10 p.m. and 11:20 p.m.
 
 
Stolen Vehicles  
 
There were eight vehicles stolen during the past week. Four vehicles were recovered.
 
  • 300 block of Bay Ridge Drive—a 1997 Honda Civic. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on 09-19-22 and 9:00 a.m. on 09-20-22.
 
  • Unit block of Woodrow Street—a 2002 Honda Civic. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on 09-20-22 and 5:20 a.m. on 09-21-22. **Recovered by El Cerrito PD on 09-24-22.
   
  • San Pedro Road and Washington Street—a 2019 Dodge Challenger. Occurred between 4:30 p.m. on 09-21-22 and 9:00 a.m. on 09-22-22.
 
  • Unit block of Coronado Avenue — a 2001 Honda CRV. Occurred between 6:00 p.m. on 09-21-22 and 7:15 a.m. on 09-22-22.
 
  • Skyline Drive and Gateway Drive—a 2017 U-Haul trailer. Occurred between 6:00 p.m. on 09-21-22 and 12:00 p.m. on 09-22-22.
 
  • Unit block of East Moltke Street—a 1992 Toyota Camry. Occurred on 09-21-22 at approximately 6:30 p.m. **Recovered by DCPD on 09-22-22.
 
  • 900 block of Saint Francis Boulevard—a 2002 Kia Sportage. Occurred on 09-23-22 between 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. **Recovered by DCPD on 09-24-22.
 
 
Miscellaneous
 
  • There were 167 cases taken.
 
  • There were 12 domestic disturbance cases reported.
 
  • There were 4 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
 
  • There were 13 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
 
  • There were 3 cases for public intoxication.
 
  • There were 5 hit-and-run collisions reported.
 
  • There were 5 narcotics-related cases taken.
 
 
Community Events/Information
 
Daly City Make a Difference Day
 
Free Recycling Event Saturday, October 22, 2022, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., City Hall Parking Lot
 
The City of Daly City is hosting this event in the City Hall parking lot where they will be offering the following free services in a drive-through format: Secure Document Shredding, E-waste Drop-off, and Used Tire Take Back. There will be NO mattresses or household hazardous waste accepted. Proof of residency is required to drop off items for disposal (driver’s license and/or recent utility bill). Volunteer Clean-Ups Saturday, October 22, 2022, Various Times
In addition, there will be opportunities to volunteer in tree plantings, clean-ups in parks and neighborhoods, Mission Street-Top of the Hill clean-up, and Mussel Rock Coastal clean-up. All volunteers must complete a release form prior to beginning any work activity associated with Make a Difference Day.
