Flash Flood Warning until 02:00PM

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina... Colleton County in southeastern South Carolina...

* Until 200 PM EDT.

* At 1027 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated bands of heavy rain associated with Hurricane Ian will push across southern Charleston County from late morning through early afternoon. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain has fallen this morning. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour may continue through mid-day. Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are possible across the warned area, especially near Johns Island, Ravenel, and Wadmalaw Island. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Edisto Beach, Johns Island, West Ashley, James Island, Hollywood, Folly Beach, Ravenel, Seabrook Island, Kiawah Island, Meggett, Rockville, Bears Bluff, Yonges Island, Wadmalaw Island, Adams Run, Edisto Island, Jacksonboro, Bennetts Point, Dungannon Heritage Preserve and Capwells Crossroads.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CHARLESTON, SC ... COLLETON, SC

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Flooding is likely in low-lying coastal areas where high tide will inhibit runoff of heavy rain.
