Severe weather conditions on Jekyll Island have subsided and conditions are anticipated to be pleasant through the weekend.
 
Please use caution when utilizing bike paths and other remote areas of the island while JIA staff continue to assess storm damage.

The bike path across from Circle K, entering the maritime forest, is temporarily closed due to downed trees and tidal flooding.
 
Glory Beach crossover is closed until further notice. All other beach crossovers are open but should be used with caution due to the severe shifting of sand and potential wind debris.
 
Shell Road and the Sidney Lanier Bridge are reopened to vehicular traffic.
 
Ameris Bank will reopen at noon today. The Post Office and Circle K are open.
 
Most businesses will resume normal operations today and tomorrow but please contact businesses directly for hours of operation.
 
Jekyll Island Authority-operated facilities will resume normal hours on Saturday, October 1, though the Jekyll Island Golf Club will have reduced course play. Contact the Pro Shop for details.
 
Waste Management will resume trash, recycling, and debris pickup on its regular Monday schedule.
 
Georgia Power is actively working to restore power on the North end and anticipates full restoration later today.
 
Verizon is anticipated to replace the downed temporary cell tower on Saturday, October 1 to restore cell service on the South end.
 
Georgia State Patrol and the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office continue to actively patrol the island.
 
The Glynn County Emergency Operations Center is now closed for this storm and this will be the final JIA-managed Nixle message related to Hurricane Ian.
