Flash Flood Warning until 04:00PM

The National Weather Service in Charleston has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina... Colleton County in southeastern South Carolina...

* Until 400 PM EDT.

* At 1231 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated bands of heavy rain associated with Hurricane Ian nearly stationary across southern Charleston County early this afternoon. Between 5 and 8 inches of rain has fallen so far today between Rantowles across Johns Island to Folly Beach. As the band lingers into the mid afternoon hours, an additional 2 to 4 inches may fall. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour may continue through early this afternoon. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by rain bands associated with Hurricane Ian SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Edisto Beach, Johns Island, West Ashley, James Island, Hollywood, Folly Beach, Ravenel, Seabrook Island, Kiawah Island, Meggett, Rockville, Bears Bluff, Yonges Island, Wadmalaw Island, Adams Run, Edisto Island, Jacksonboro, Bennetts Point, Dungannon Heritage Preserve and Capwells Crossroads.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CHARLESTON, SC ... COLLETON, SC

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Flooding is likely in low-lying coastal areas where high tide will inhibit runoff of heavy rain.
