Have You Read Our Tips on Child Safety?

If you have time this weekend and are a parent or a caregiver to children, please take a moment to learn about child safety by visiting our website here.

There are specific categories of tips on that page, to include online safety for children and general safety topics for children.  Would your child know what to do if they got lost at a shopping mall?  If a friendly stranger offered to give them a ride home after school?  If they were home alone and a stranger came to the front door, would they know what to do?  There’s also information on registered sex offenders and links to the Megan’s Law website.

To view *all* of our crime prevention tips (not just those on child safety), please visit www.cityofpaloalto.org/StopCrime. We have separate categories on personal safety (to include three basic rules -- stay alert, be calm & confident, and trust your instincts – and tips for when you are out walking, in your car, in an elevator, while jogging, while on public transportation, etc.), home and vehicle safety (what to do with solicitors or strangers at your door, how to keep your home secure from burglars, how to prevent package theft from your porch, and how to keep your vehicle safe from auto burglars), and scams, schemes, and fraud (identity theft, telemarketing schemes, credit card fraud, IRS scams, Utilities scams, “grandson” scams, and consumer fraud).

Have a great weekend, everyone!
