Police Seek the Public's Help Locating Suspect Vehicle in Van Burglary

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in locating the below-pictured vehicle in connection with the burglary of a van that occurred on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

Between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 8:55 a.m., a work van parked in the 300 block of South 9th Street was broken into. Various tools were stolen, including a turbo torch set-up with tank, Makita hammer drill, and vacuum pumps. When workers returned to the van, they observed that the right rear door window was shattered and that the doors were left open.

Detectives investigating this incident observed on surveillance footage a gray Honda Civic with a New Jersey temporary tag, front black bumper, and spare donut tire on the rear entering and exiting the lot where the van was parked. They seek the public’s help in locating this vehicle as part of their investigation.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the whereabouts of this suspect vehicle to call the Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
