Suspect arrested after April gunfire incident in southwest Berkeley

On April 7th at 1:44 pm, the Berkeley Department received numerous calls reporting gunfire on the 3100 block of San Pablo Avenue.  When officers arrived, they found evidence of gunfire.  After speaking with witnesses and reviewing security video footage, investigators determined that the gunfire involved a shoot-out between two suspects.  Additionally, investigators found two separate vehicles that had been damaged from the gunfire (including a USPS vehicle).  After additional investigation, detectives identified one of the suspects as (23-year-old Berkeley man) and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On June 9th, detectives searched the suspect’s residence and found an un-serialized assault pistol (AKA Ghost gun) with armor-piercing rounds as well as handgun loaded with an extended magazine.  The suspect was later arrested by Pittsburg PD during a traffic stop in August (where officers found him armed with another firearm).

On September 27th, the suspect was transferred to the custody of the Berkeley Police Department—where he was booked for assault with a deadly weapon warrant, felon in possession of firearm warrant, and violation of probation.

We would like to thank the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force for their assistance over the course of this investigation.
