I am happy to announce the completion of Teaneck’s new “9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point Center” after initiation of the project in early 2021. Effective tomorrow at 9:00 a.m., calls made to the 9-1-1 system will be answered by highly trained and certified public safety telecommunicators from Teaneck. It remains my position that no one knows the Township better than the men and women who serve the Teaneck Police Department.

Since 2015, Teaneck utilized the Bergen County Public Safety Operations Center in Mahwah, NJ as the primary PSAP for Teaneck 9-1-1 calls. The Bergen County Public Safety Operations Center will now act as a 9-1-1 secondary alternate call routing center for Teaneck.
 
Thank you to Bergen County Director Frank DelVecchio and his staff for providing courteous, prompt and professional service to the residents of Teaneck over the past 7 years.
 
Teaneck’s new state of the art Public Safety Answering Point Center replaces 27-year-old radio and telephone equipment installed in 1995. When it comes to dialing 9-1-1, every second counts and we are pleased to have such advanced technology implemented at the new Communications Center that will help ensure the utmost of safety to our residents during an emergency.
 
Teaneck’s new Public Safety Answering Point Center was funded by Federal forfeiture assets and no municipal tax dollars were spent on this project.
 
Remember, 9-1-1 is for emergencies only. 9-1-1 should be used in any critical situation where a law enforcement officer, fire fighter or emergency medical help is needed right away.
