Since September 21^st, 2022, there have been six reports of checks stolen from various mailboxes throughout Town. The thefts have occurred from standard and tamper-proof residential mailboxes. The stolen checks are then altered for large sums and cashed at different financial institutions. To date, over fifty-five thousand dollars have been fraudulently obtained. We are asking the public to report any suspicious activity around any mailboxes. We also recommend using online banking services or hand-delivering your letter directly to the post office. If anyone has any information regarding these incidents or anything similar, please contact the New Castle Police Department at (914) 238-4422.
