Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of September 26-October 2, 2022
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Robberies
There were two robberies and an attempted robbery during the past week.
On Sunday, 10-02-22, at approximately 9:23 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Valero gas station on Mission Street on a report of a robbery. The suspect took an energy drink from the refrigerator and gave the cashier $4. The suspect then reached for a black semi-automatic pistol and pointed it at the cashier with both hands. The cashier recalled the suspect saying “money.” The suspect saw several cars drive up to the gas pumps outside. The cashier gave the suspect back his $4, and then the suspect fled eastbound on Bismark Street in a light blue four-door sedan. The suspect was described as a thin build White male between 25 and 28 years old, 6’0” tall, with light-colored eyes, and wearing a black ski mask, yellow jacket, and black pants.
On Sunday, 10-02-22, at approximately 11:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Fuel 24/7 gas station on Sullivan Avenue on a report of a robbery. The cashier stated that the suspect entered the store and asked how much money was in the register. The suspect removed a black handgun and pointed the handgun at the cashier. The suspect stated, “I want the money” or “Give me the money” to the cashier. The cashier opened the register and gave the suspect all the cash. The suspect grabbed the money, tucked the handgun and money in his pants waistband, and fled in a blue Toyota Corolla. The suspect was described as a thin White male approximately 20 years old, about 6’3” tall, and wearing a black ski mask, yellow hooded sweatshirt, and black and red-colored sweatpants.
On Friday, 09-30-22, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a subject came to the front desk to report that she was the victim of an attempted robbery that occurred earlier on the west sidewalk of Park Plaza Drive near the Westlake Shopping Center. The victim stated that a suspect grabbed at her purse, but was not able to take it. As the victim attempted to walk away, the suspect grabbed her hair and pulled her to the ground. The suspect sat on top of the victim’s chest and struck her 2-3 times on her face. The suspect, a 48-year-old transient, was located, arrested, and booked into jail for attempted robbery.
Residential Burglaries
There were two residential burglaries and one attempted residential burglary during the past week.
On Tuesday, 09-27-22, at approximately 4:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to the unit block of Wavecrest Drive on a report of a theft that occurred half an hour earlier. The victim stated that the suspects followed her husband home. The husband stated that as he exited a grocery store, a heavyset Middle Eastern female in her late thirties or forties waved him down and asked if he could buy her jewelry. The suspect continued to beg for money. The husband told the suspect that he could possibly show his wife the jewelry to see if she may be interested. The suspect entered the husband’s vehicle without permission. The husband drove home with the suspect in the car and noticed a white minivan following behind them. The husband went into his wife’s room and did not notice that the suspect was also inside the house until it was too late, as the suspect was not invited to enter. The wife told both the husband and suspect to get out of the room. The husband walked outside to the living room and noticed four suspects. The first suspect was the female who came out of the room with him. The second suspect was an average build female in her twenties wearing a hijab with flower designs. The third suspect was described as a ten-year-old boy. The fourth suspect was described as a light-skinned complexion male who was driving the minivan. The wife also exited her bedroom and went into the kitchen. The first and third suspects started kissing her hands, touching her neck, and placing numerous amounts of jewelry around her neck. The wife gave them $100 and instructed them to leave. Meanwhile, the second suspect entered the bedroom and took the wife’s jewelry. The wife checked her neck and noticed that her necklace was also missing. The jewelry stolen was valued at approximately $12,000. This investigation is continuing.
On Wednesday, 09-28-22, at approximately 9:47 a.m., at the 100 block of Los Olivos Avenue, a resident was a victim of a home invasion. The victim stated that a Black male wearing a reflective vest and a hard hat rang her doorbell, but she did not allow this person inside the house. The victim went to check on the rear of her property and walked out to her porch. She stated she noticed two other Black males wearing all black jumping the fence into her backyard. The victim attempted to close her backdoor, but was unable to due to the door stopper. The two suspects rushed inside the house. One of these suspects allowed the suspect at the front door to enter. While two suspects searched the home, one of the suspects strangled the victim. Eventually, the suspects left the home in a white Kia hatchback with the victim’s life savings, jewelry, foreign money, a Louis Vuitton handbag, and cell phone. This investigation is continuing.
On Wednesday, 09-28-22, at approximately 7:49 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Skyline Drive on a report of a residential burglary. Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
