Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Burglary Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help with identifying the below-pictured suspect, who broke into a victim's residence looking for marijuana on September 24, 2022.

Police responded to a call about a burglary in progress that occurred around 6:45 a.m. at a home in the 700 block of Hunterdon Avenue. The suspect entered the victim’s home, threw her onto the couch, and demanded that she hand over marijuana. As the suspect searched the home, the victim attempted to escape but the suspect grabbed her again and threw her onto the couch a second time. The victim, however, managed to get away and call the police from a neighbor’s home.

The suspect, a Black male, fled on foot from the rear of the home toward Bergen Street. Described as 5’7” or 5’8,” the suspect was wearing blue jeans, a brown ski mask, and a brown coat with fur on the collar.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the suspect to  call the Police Division’s  24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-
