The Township would like to remind all residents that the odd/even water restrictions currently remain in effect for the Township of Denville.  The use of automatic sprinkler systems or any other water delivering devices that are not handheld are strictly prohibited at all times while these restrictions remain in effect.

With odd/even restrictions, if your home or business has an odd numbered street address, you may use a handheld watering device on odd numbered calendar days.  If your home/business has an even numbered street address, you may use a handheld watering device on even numbered calendar days.  Handheld watering devices include the use of a garden hose, watering can, etc. to water lawns, shrubs, ornamental plants, sod, etc.  Commercial businesses conducting work at a residential addresses are expected to fully comply with the odd/even water restrictions based on the house number of where the work is being performed.
 
Although we have recently seen an increase in rainfall, the necessity of the water restrictions is primarily a result of the ongoing refurbishment of the Township’s primary water tank, which holds 1.25 million gallons of water when in operation.  This water tank remains offline and the refurbishment is expected to be completed on or about December 1, 2022.  With the primary water tank offline, the continued water restrictions are necessary to ensure that the water levels in the other water tanks in our system remain at safe levels for potable use, as well as for fire suppression.
 
Your continued cooperation in complying with the water restrictions is greatly appreciated.  Any changes to the current restrictions, including when they are terminated, will be announced via Nixle and the Township's various social media sites.
