Green Bay Police to Partner with Local Healthcare Organizations on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
The Green Bay Police Department is partnering with Bellin Health, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center, and N.E.W. Community Clinic for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to offer Brown County residents safe disposal of expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs or over-the-counter medications.
There will be two drop-off sites in Green Bay on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center – Emergency Dept. Entrance, 1726 Shawano Avenue
- N.E.W. Community Clinic, 622 Bodart Street
- Capsules/Pills
- Creams/Ointments
- Inhalers
- Non-Aerosol Sprays
- Patches
- Pet Medications
- Vape Pens/E-Cigarette Devices (Batteries Must Be Removed)
- Vials
Those dropping off medications should remain in their vehicle and a volunteer will come to collect.
“Collections like these are effective in protecting ourselves, our families, and the community by preventing prescriptions or medications from ending up in the wrong hands to be abused, accidentally ingested, or stolen. If we can avoid a tragedy such as overdose or death through proper disposal, we’re doing our part to improve public safety,” said Chief Chris Davis, Green Bay Police Department.
During the last National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which was held April 30, 2022, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) reports that Wisconsinites safely disposed of 59,840 pounds of medications. In Green Bay, we had collected 1,118 pounds of that total between two clinics and the permanent drop-box at the Green Bay Police Department, 307 S. Adams Street.
