Sheriff's HOPE Team Reaches Dozens During Outreach in Unincorporated San Bernardino
DATE/TIME: October 7, 2022 / 6:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
INCIDENT: Outreach Operation
LOCATION: Central Station - Unincorporated areas in San Bernardino
SUMMARY: On Friday, October 7, 2022, the Community Service & Reentry Division, Homeless Outreach Proactive Enforcement team (H.O.P.E.) conducted outreach efforts in the unincorporated service areas of San Bernardino. The H.O.P.E. team located forty-one encampments and spoke with twenty-five individuals experiencing homelessness. Twenty were provided with referrals to assistance programs, and ten were provided with direct assistance. One individual met the criteria for the county's Project Room Key program and he was provided placement at a local motel where he will coordinate with service providers to end his homelessness.
The team was able to provide this focused outreach due to Senate Bill 170, which provided funding to the Department to support ongoing operations of this nature. The H.O.P.E. team and other aligned resources will continue operations of this type throughout the county over the next several years.
If you know of persons experiencing homelessness who are in need of services, please contact the H.O.P.E. team at 909-387-0623 or [email protected]
