Motorcyclist Leads Deputies on a Pursuit; Driver and Passenger Apprehended and Arrested



DATE/TIME: Friday, October 7, 2022 / 8:07 a.m.  

INCIDENT: Felony Evading, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

LOCATION: Kiowa Road and Bear Valley Road in the Town of Apple Valley  

SUSPECT(S): 1) Brady Alan Flanagan, a 26-year-old resident of Victorville 
2) Robert David Diaz, a 29-year-old resident of Victorville 


SUMMARY: On Friday, October 7, 2022, at approximately 8:07 a.m., Deputy Watson with the Apple Valley Police Department initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation, on a motorcycle near Kiowa Road and Bear Valley Road. The motorcycle was occupied by two subjects. The driver, later identified as Brady Flanagan, failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The passenger was later identified as Robert Diaz. 

During the 3-mile pursuit, Flanagan reached speeds of over 65 miles per hour, drove into opposing lanes, and failed to stop at a red light and a stop sign. The motorcycle experienced mechanical issues near Deep Creek Road and Bear Valley Road, where Flanagan fled into a nearby field. Deputies arrested Flanagan after a short foot pursuit. Diaz was detained and later arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance. 

Flanagan was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for felony evading and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition to the above charges, Flanagan was booked for violating his Post Release Community Supervision and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Diaz was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance, where he was cited and released.
