On October 11, 2022 at approximately 8:35 p.m., Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety received a call of a vehicle collision on State Farm Drive, between Commerce Boulevard and Professional Center Drive. The vehicle collision was reported as a vehicle rollover with a person trapped inside one of the two involved vehicles.

Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety police and fire units were immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene within a few minutes. Upon their arrival, units found two vehicles (a white Subaru sedan and a gray Subaru sedan) that had been involved in the collision. The gray Subaru sedan was found on its side with the sole occupant trapped inside the vehicle. Police and Fire Public Safety Officers made entry into the vehicle through the vehicle’s front windshield and extricated the vehicle driver. The driver, a 57-year-old female resident of Santa Rosa, was transported to an area hospital with moderate, non-life-threatening injuries.

Based on the investigation thus far, it is believed the white Subaru sedan was parked at the west curb of State Farm Drive, near 5625 State Farm Drive. That vehicle left the curb and entered the southbound lane of State Farm Drive and into the path of the gray Subaru sedan that was already traveling south on State Farm Drive. As a result, the two vehicles collided, causing the gray Subaru sedan to roll onto the vehicle’s passenger side.

The driver of the white Subaru sedan was identified as Matthew Lyons, a 31-year-old resident of Healdsburg. Lyons was arrested for one felony count of 23153(a) CVC – DUI resulting in bodily injury and one felony count of 23153(b) CVC – DUI resulting in bodily injury with a BAC over 0.08%. Though Lyons stated he was not injured, officers transported him to an area hospital for medical clearance prior to transporting him the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this vehicle collision is asked to contact the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Dispatch at (707) 584-2600 and refer to Case #22-4046.

Thank you.
