#LASD Major Crimes Bureau, Robbery Task Force Arrested Serial Bank Robbery Suspect
Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Major Crimes Bureau, Burglary Robbery Task Force (BRTF) learned of four bank robberies that occurred over a two-month period, in close-proximity of one another, and shared the same modus operandi (demand note). These crimes involved the same suspect and vehicle descriptions. Detectives identified the suspect’s get-away vehicle as a white Jeep Wrangler.
After an extensive investigation and with the assistance of the Bell Police Department, detectives were able to positively identify Devon Neal as the suspect in these robberies and obtained a search warrant for his residence.
On October 12, 2022, in the early morning hours, detectives detained Suspect Neal without incident from his residence located on the 6300 block of Rahn Avenue in Long Beach. Detectives executed their search warrant of the residence and recovered numerous items of evidence.
Suspect Neal was arrested and transported to the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station where he was booked on robbery charges. He is being held on $50,000.00 bail, with a scheduled court date of October 14, 2022, at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center located in downtown Los Angeles.
This investigation is ongoing to determine if this suspect is responsible for other bank robberies which have recently occurred in the southern California area.
The LASD MCB BRTF was formed over ten years ago to combat the ever-increasing trend of organized crews who are committing residential burglaries along with violent robbery crime trends. The MCB BRTF works closely in support of all LASD station’s detective bureaus, as well as other southern California law enforcement agencies.
