Calhoun County EMA ALERT 10/17/2022
NWS has placed Calhoun County under a freeze warning on 10/18/2022 from 2:00 am until 9:00 AM CST.
A freeze watch is in effect for late Tuesday Evening through Wednesday morning.
A 2nd freeze watch is in effect for Wednesday evening to Thursday morning.
A warming center is planned to open at 8:00 Monday, October 17th through Thursday, October 20th at 7:00 a.m. at the Bridge at First United Methodist Church

CONDITIONS SUMMARY -
* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 expected.
* WHERE...Marion, Lamar, Fayette, Walker, Winston, Jefferson,
Blount, St. Clair, Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee and Cleburne
Counties.
* WHEN...From 2 AM to 9 AM CDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
