     On 10/16/22 at approximately 1:50 am, UCPD officers responded to the 34000 block of Alvarado Niles Rd. for a report of a subject who was hit in the head with a pipe. When officers arrived on scene, they located a 28-year-old male victim who was bleeding profusely from numerous lacerations and puncture wounds. Officers rendered aid and the victim was eventually transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

     The victim identified the suspect as his girlfriend, Diamond Edwards, 26-year-old female from Union City. A Ramey warrant was authored for her arrest for 245(a)(1) PC Assault with a Deadly Weapon and 273.5 PC Inflicting Corporal Injury. Diamond Edwards also had several warrants for her arrests from various agencies in the Bay Area.

     Later that evening at approximately 6:34 PM, officers observed Diamond Edwards enter her residence and developed a plan to apprehend her. Officers surrounded her residence and ordered her to surrender, but she refused to leave. Based on the severity of the crime and the fact that she barricaded herself in her residence, the Union City Police Department SWAT team was activated. After a six-hour stand-off, Diamond Edwards exited the residence and was safely taken into custody. Diamond Edwards was arrested and booked into jail.
