It's the Great Wyoming ShakeOut! Join us in the world's largest earthquake drill by practicing Drop, Cover, and Hold On!

The third Thursday of every October is the Great ShakeOut, the world's largest earthquake drill. This year’s drill is today, October 20, 2022 at 10:20 a.m. This is a great time for you, your family, and your coworkers to learn more about our earthquake risk in Teton County and how you can stay safe. Earthquakes are the highest rated risk in our community's Hazard Mitigation Plan, and as such we need everyone in the community to know how to protect themselves in the event of an earthquake. It’s super simple, and you can practice it right now with everyone else around the world! Just remember: Drop, Cover, and Hold On!

To make your exercise more realistic, play the audio file attached to this message for narration and sound effects. While you’re in your area of cover, look around for hazards that could fall during an earthquake and make a plan to secure them.

You can register for the Great Wyoming ShakeOut by visiting this website and get more preparedness resources.
