The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito October 7th to October 9th, 2022.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
  
October 7th

Retail Theft – Marshall’s 10794 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 12:30pm, two unknown suspects walked out of the store with approximately $3,000.00 worth of unpaid merchandise.  The suspects fled the parking lot in a gray 2-door Scion.  The first suspect was described as a black male adult, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, and gray colored sweatpants. The second suspect was described as a black female adult wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans.  

Auto Burglary – Trader Joes parking lot 225 Trader Joes
At approximately 4:20pm, while the victim was sitting in her car, an unknown suspect shattered the front passenger side window and stole her purse.  The suspect got into a black sedan and fled southbound on Kains Ave. towards the City of Albany.  The suspect was described as a black male adult, 20’s, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and dark colored jeans.   

Battery with Serious Bodily Injury – DD’s Discounts 11555 San Pablo Ave.
At approximately 5:29pm, officers responded to a fight in front of the store. A 38 year old male suspect from San Francisco followed the victims inside the store and accused them of molesting him.  The victims did not know the suspect and attempted to get in their vehicle to drive away.  As they were leaving, the suspect picked up one of the male victims, slammed him on the ground and began punching him. The victim’s female friend tried to intervene, but the suspect punched her in the face.  Officers detained the suspect, who was abrasive and belligerent with officers.  The male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.  One of the victims was transported to the hospital for a large laceration to his head.  
 
October 8th

Warrant Arrest – 5200 block of Potrero Ave.
At approximately 5:39am., officers were dispatch to a report of male and female arguing in their apartment.  Officers contacted the involved party’s and learned it was a verbal argument only.  The 62 year old male had a warrant out of Contra Costa County.  The male was arrested, booked at the police station and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Burglary – 10636 San Pablo Avenue (24 Hour Fitness);
At 8:16 pm an officer was sent to the report that two lockers had been broken into and property had been stolen from both. 
 
October 9th

Shoplifting – Pet Vet 6000 Potrero Ave.
At approximately 3:33pm, an unknown suspect entered the store and stole two bags of dog food.  The suspect got into the passenger side seat of an older model Toyota Camry or Corolla which fled the parking lot.  The suspect was described as a black male adult, 29-39 years old, wearing a black hat, yellow and black colored shirt, jean shorts and black shoes.

Robbery – 11450 San Pablo Avenue (Safeway);
At 7:59 pm officers were sent to the store for the report of a theft.  Two suspects had entered the store and started loading up bags with merchandise.  When store employees and security approached the suspects and told them to put the merchandise back and leave the store the two suspects threatened to shoot the store employees.  The suspects left the store with the merchandise and were last seen walking towards the Bart station.
