City of Janesville Police Department 2021 Community Survey

In 2021, the Janesville Police Department conducted a Community Survey to assess citizen perceptions and attitudes about policing and police services throughout the city.

One of the best indicators of a police department’s success is a science-based community safety service offered incrementally over a long period of time.  The police department partnered with the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater for community safety surveys in 2009, 2015 and 2021.

The surveys allow citizens to weigh in on:

  • Quality of life
  • Perception of safety
  • Importance of police services
  • Performance of police services
  • Level of comfort with police department staff
Further, the survey reviews the data by each patrol area allowing for actionable planning for each patrol area.

Surprisingly, in this post-Minneapolis world, all indicators in the 2021 survey show strong support for the police department and overall safety in Janesville.

The findings discussed in the Police Department 2021 Community Survey indicate that Janesville residents generally feel safe and are generally satisfied with the services provided by the Police Department.

The survey is available on the City of Janesville website at:
