INCIDENT: P.C. 29800(A)(1) - Felon in Possession of a Firearm
P.C. 33215 - Possession of Short Barrel Shotgun
P.C. 273.5(A) - Inflict Corporal Injury on a Spouse/Cohabitant
LOCATION: 31000 Block of Goffs Road, Essex, CA
SUSPECT(S): Daniel Jacob Staniforth, 35-years-old, Resident of Essex, CA
VICTIM(S): State of California/Confidential
SUMMARY: On Thursday, October 20, 2022, at approximately 1:47 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance near the 31000 block of Goffs Road. It was reported the suspect, identified as Daniel Staniforth, had been continously assaulting the victim over an extended period of time. It was also reported Staniforth was in possession of a firearm. Staniforth is a convicted felon and is not legally allowed to possess a firearm or ammunition.
During the investigation, Staniforth was found to be in violation of P.C. 273(A) - Inflict Injury on a Spouse/Cohabitant, P.C. 29800(A)(1) - Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and P.C. 33215 - Possession of an Illegal Short Barrel Shotgun after a weapon was located inside of the residence.
Staniforth was arrested and transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking . Staniforth remains in the custody of the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $50,000, awaiting a court hearing.
