On Friday, October 21, 2022, at 9:50 p.m., Santa Ana Police Department Communications received a call from an unknown female who reported hearing gunshots in the 1600 block of South Evergreen Street. The female further stated that a male was lying in the street in front of an apartment.
Upon arrival, officers began performing life-saving measures on the male suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene and began treating the male, who was transported to Orange County Global Medical Center. The male was pronounced deceased at 4:33 a.m.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently being investigated, however detectives believe the motive to be gang related. The Orange County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim asAngel Salgado (18) of Aliso Viejo.
Detectives are attempting to identify and locate any witnesses who can shed light on this incident.
