INCIDENT: D.U.I. Traffic Crash with Major Injuries
LOCATION: Peyton Drive, Chino Hills
SUSPECT(S): Driver #1: Ilma MirandaRivera, Resident of Anaheim
Vehicle #1: Blue Honda CR-V
VICTIM(S): Passenger #1: 26-year-old Male
SUMMARY: On Sunday, October 23, 2022, at approximately 3:51 a.m., deputies from the Chino Hills Station and rescue personnel from Chino Valley Fire Department responded to a traffic crash on Peyton Drive, south of Chino Avenue, in the city of Chino Hills. The driver, Ilma MirandaRivera, was driving a blue Honda CR-V south on Peyton Drive when for unknown reasons she drove onto the center median, where the Honda ran over a traffic sign before hitting a tree. MirandaRivera displayed signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. Deputies also located evidence in the Honda to indicate alcohol consumption. MirandaRivera and her male passenger were transported to a nearby hospital by the fire department. The passenger sustained major injuries as a result of the crash and was in critical condition. MirandaRivera sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
After being treated for her injuries, MirandaRivera was arrested for violation of California Vehicle Code section 23153(a)-Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing Bodily Injury and booked into West Valley Detention Center.
Peyton Drive, from Bedford Lane to Chino Avenue, was closed for several hours while deputies from the Sheriff's Regional Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) processed the scene.
