The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito October 14th to October 17th, 2022.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
  
October 18th

Petty Theft – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave. 
An unknown suspect stole the victim’s backpack. 

Warrant Arrest – 10900 San Pablo Ave
An officer reports the arrest of a 50 year old unsheltered woman after she turned herself in for 5 outstanding ECPD warrants and 1 CCCSO warrant.  

Shoplift – Ross 2000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 6:33 PM, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 53 year old woman who stole blankets from Ross.  The suspect was detained on Fairmount Ave at Liberty St. and was positively identified during an infield show-up.  The woman also had a warrant for her arrest for battery and vandalism.  Cited for the shoplifting.

Shoplift – Ross 2000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 9:27 PM, an unidentified suspect stole several pairs of shoes and fled to the rear of the store.  The suspect was described as a black male, dark skinned, 30’s, wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, a white head wrap and carrying a skateboard. 

October 19th

Tamper with Vehicle – 500 block of Village Dr. 
At 7:10 AM, an unidentified suspect attempted to steal the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle.  The suspect fled empty handed when the victim ran towards his vehicle.  The suspect was described as a heavyset black male, 5’10”, wearing a dark navy hooded sweatshirt.

Vehicle Theft – 1200 block of Liberty St. 
An unidentified suspect stole the victim’s 2015 Honda Accord sometime within the last 3 days.  It was located by RPD this morning, on fire, at Triangle Ct. / Lincoln Ave.   

Petty Theft (License Plates) – 3200 block of Belmont Ave. 
An unidentified suspect stole the both of the victim’s license plates sometime between 8 PM on 10/18/22 and noon on 10/19/22.

Warrant Arrest – 1100 block of Richmond St. 
An officer was dispatched to a verbal dispute between a male and female at a residence.  A records check revealed one of the subjects, a 34 year old man, had a citable warrant for drug offenses.  The man was cited and released.  The female half left the residence. 

October 20th

Assault with a Deadly Weapon / Grand Theft – 1100 block of Navellier St. 
At 6:50 AM, an officer was dispatched to a catalytic converter theft in progress.  The reporting party was riding his bicycle when he saw 3 suspects stealing the catalytic converter from a white Prius.  Upon seeing the caller, one of the suspects chased after him on foot.  The suspect threw a rock at the caller, which struck him in the arm.  The caller rode around the block and called police.  Immediately after, the vehicle owner heard the theft in progress and ran outside to investigate.  One of the suspects threw a rock at the victim, which struck her in the head.  The suspects fled in a white sedan, followed by a beige sedan.  Both victims declined medical treatment.

Shoplift – Sketchers, 5805 Cutting Blvd. 
At 5:20 PM, an unidentified suspect entered the store, selected 5 pairs of men’s shoes, and left without paying.  He fled on foot, northbound through the parking lot.  The suspect was described as a black male, 6’2, 160, wearing a brown beanie, black leather jacket, dark grey jeans, and a black backpack.

Domestic Violence / Warrant Arrest – 400 block of Kearney St:
At 6:30 PM, an officer arrested a 42 year old South San Francisco man after he punched his girlfriend in the abdomen several times causing her to fall to the floor.  While she was down, the suspect slammed the victim’s head against the floor 3-4 times.  Warrants for his arrest arrest were also discovered out of Richmond PD ($50K) and Alameda County ($30K) for traffic offenses.  To county jail on the new charge and the warrants.  An emergency protective order obtained and served.

Grand Theft – 5800 block of El Dorado Ave:
An officer reports the theft of a catalytic converter from a 2002 Honda minivan.  The vehicle was left propped up on a jack, which was collected as evidence.

Grand Theft – 400 block of Colusa Ave:
An officer reports the theft of a catalytic converter from a 2008 Prius.
