Emergency Identification Autism Bracelet Program
Good morning everyone!
We here at the Ogden Dunes Police Department, love working to find better ways to help serve in the community, and with that we want to enthusiastically inform every one of the Portage Township Autism Action Coalition (PAATC).
If you're not aware, this is a partnership led by the Portage Township Trustee Brendan Clancy that we (ODPD & ODFD) are actively involved with.
This AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL program provides first responders with an incredibly useful tool to aid in identifying, locating, and interacting with youngsters on the spectrum if they go missing.
This tool is a BLUE, rubber, uniquely numbered bracelet that will be given to the person with ASD after registering in the program.
First responders (Police, Fire and Search and Rescue) are being trained to identify these bracelets as this program begins to roll out into action.
More importantly, this program is FREE! It is funded through a grant from AUTISM SPEAKS.
Any families within the community that may have a loved one in their family (child or adult) that would benefit from this program, please stop in at town hall at any time and pick up a registration form from Megan.
Can't make it during the Day? That's OK! We will have extra registration forms in the lobby as well.
Don't much fancy to go out and about during cold and flu season? That's alright as well, you can get a form from the comfort of your mobile device by going to: portagetrustee.org
Be sure to fill out the form in its entirety and return it in person to the
Portage Township Trustee office located at:
3590 Willowcreek Road, Suite B, Portage, IN

Thanks for your time and have a great day!
