SCAM ALERT
Beware of a telephone scam that has been reported to Amsterdam Police. Residents report receiving a phone call from 518-842-1100 with a man identifying himself as Chief of Police John Thomas. The man then requests money under threat that if money is not provided a warrant will be issued for the person’s arrest.
Anyone receiving a phone call like this should immediately hang up. If you are ever contacted by someone who identifies as Amsterdam Police that you are unsure of you should hang up and dial 518-842-1100 and speak to the on duty personnel who can assist you further.
