INCIDENT: DEATH INVESTIGATION
LOCATION: National Trails Highway/ Mill Street, Oro Grande
VICTIM: Lorenzo Morgan, 29-years-old, Resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 2:46pm, deputies responded to a 911 call on National Trails Highway in Oro Grande. Lorenzo Morgan told dispatch he was on the side of the road in his vehicle and had accidently shot himself.
Deputies and medical personnel arrived on scene and located Morgan inside his vehicle with a gunshot wound to his lower extremity. Morgan was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Through the investigation, deputies learned Lorenzo Morgan was an off-duty Colton Police Officer. No foul play is suspected in the shooting and it is believed this was a tragic accident.
