DETAILS: On October 30, 2022 at approximately 4:19 pm, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of IH-27 Southbound access road and Washington St, on a motorcycle Vs Motor vehicle crash. Upon their arrival, they discovered a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Ronald Walter Barnes, male, age 42 of Amarillo had been southbound on Washington st. A 2022 Hyundai SUV was eastbound on IH-27 South frontage road approaching Washington St. The Harley Davidson struck the Hyundai. Mr. Barnes was taken to a local area hospital where he died. The driver of the SUV received minor injuries. Mr. Barnes was not wearing a helmet. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
