FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PUSHMATAHA COUNTY, Okla. (October 31, 2022) – At the request of the Pushmataha County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating after human skeletal remains were found yesterday. An individual was in the wooded area south of Highway 3 and the Indian Nation Turnpike when the remains were located. The individual called 9-1-1 and when deputies responded and confirmed the remains were human, the OSBI was requested.  

Agents are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the identity of the remains. The Medical Examiner's Office will also determine cause and manner of death.
