Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) homicide detectives arrest suspect for his alleged involvement in weekend homicide.

IMPD homicide detectives arrested 31-year-old Raymond Gilder for his alleged involvement in a homicide which took place over the weekend.

INDIANAPOLIS - On Friday, October 28, 2022, just before 3:30 p.m., IMPD East District officers were dispatched to 5151 E. 38th St., on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male and an adult female, inside a vehicle, in the parking lot. Both people sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived and transported both victims to an area hospital, the male, later identified as 23-year-old Randall Shields, was listed in critical condition and the female was listed in stable condition. Shortly after their arrival, Shields was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

During this investigation, Officers responded to the 5200 block of Butler Terrace where they located a third person who sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s).  IEMS responded and transported the male to an area hospital in stable condition.

IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation.

Preliminary information led investigators to believe both incidents were related. The investigation continued and detectives were able to identify Raymond Glider as a suspect in the incident. Glider was detained when he was released from the hospital and subsequently placed under arrest for murder. Detectives believe all the parties involved in this incident have been identified and there is not an additional threat to the community.

The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) assisted and determined the exact cause of death to be homicide.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) will review the case and make the final charging decision.
