Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Shooting Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help with identifying the below-pictured suspect, who fired a gunshot into the air while walking down a South Ward street on October 28, 2022.

Police responded to a call of shots fired at approximately 11:03 a.m. in the 100 block of Hansbury Avenue. When the officers arrived, they searched the area and recovered one shell casing. The suspect, a Black male with dreadlocks, was walking east on Hansbury when he discharged the gun. He was wearing blue ripped jeans, white sneakers, and a gray sweatshirt with a hood that had the BMW logo written on the front. Over his shoulder, he was carrying a blue tote bag.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695- 8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
