Fairfield Police Stop Illegal Marijuana Grow; 216 Plants & 250 Pounds of Processed Marijuana Seized

Press Release: Fairfield Police Department Stops Illegal Marijuana Grow, Removes 216 Marijuana Plants and 250 Pounds of Processed Marijuana from Kentucky Street Residence

Anonymous tips from residents recently initiated an investigation into a possible illegal marijuana grow at a residence in the 1600 block of Kentucky Street. The investigation ultimately led to a search warrant being obtained for the residence and property. The narcotics-related warrant was served on October 20 at around 3:06 pm by members of the Fairfield Police Department’s Special Operations Team and Patrol.

Entry to the gated/chained property was initially barred by a large Pitbull that had been left to guard the home during the occupants’ absence. A Humane Animal Services officer was called to the scene and removed the pit bull and six other dogs.

Upon entering the property, detectives located a total of 216 marijuana plants inside and outside the residence, along with approximately 250 pounds of processed marijuana. There was additional unprocessed marijuana inside the home, as well as 2 Glock style handguns and a Short Barrel AR-15 rifle.

Several truck loads were required to remove all the plants, some of which were approximately 8 feet tall. The odor of the plants was so strong that it could be smelled at least a block away and had been causing a huge quality of life issue for residents in the surrounding area. The house was also red tagged by Code enforcement for various violations.

This investigation remains active. No additional information will be released at this time.

The Fairfield Police Department again thanks the community for taking an active role in reducing harm in their neighborhoods by reporting illegal activity. The partnerships we create when we work together are invaluable and always appreciated.
