Wilmington Police have arrested a man and woman and recovered a vehicle taken in a carjacking.

On October 30 at approximately 11:37 p.m., police on patrol in the Riverside area observed an occupied vehicle that was taken in an armed carjacking earlier in the day in the area of 22^nd and Thatcher Streets.  When police attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, the vehicle fled.  The vehicle was located moments later and the occupants, 25-year-old Michael Sanders and 30-year-old Verniqua Coverdale attempted to flee on foot.  Both subjects were taken into custody without incident.

Sanders was charged with the following offenses in addition to several traffic violations:

• Receiving Stolen Property over $1,500
• Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $2,125 unsecured bail

Coverdale was charged with Resisting Arrest.

She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on her own recognizance.
