Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide Detectives Make Quick Arrest in Tuesday Homicide Investigation

IMPD homicide detectives arrested 27-year-old Frederic Pipes for his alleged involvement in a recent homicide.
 
On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, just before 7:00 p.m., IMPD East District officers were dispatched to E. 40th St./ N. Emerson Ave, on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult female, inside a vehicle, who sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived and transported the female victim to an area hospital in critical condition. Shortly after arrival to the hospital, the victim unfortunately was pronounced deceased by medical staff.
 
IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency also responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death.
 
IMPD homicide detectives continued their investigation and identified the alleged suspect. With the assistance of IMPD Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) and the IMPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, IMPD homicide detectives announced the arrest of 27-year-old Frederic Pipes for his alleged involvement. Pipes was charged with murder.
 
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) will make the final charging decision.
