The Teaneck Police Department received information from the FBI and Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office late this afternoon of the existence of a broad creditable threat involving attacks on synagogues in New Jersey. This threat is nonspecific and there’s no specific mention to any location in Teaneck nor Bergen County.
 
Out of an abundance of caution, we will have additional visible patrols in the areas of our houses of worship and schools. Additionally, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office will be deploying members of the county Rapid Deployment Team to increase patrol and visibility in and around houses of worship, and schools within the county.
 
We are working in collaboration with our Federal, State and County partners and will share additional information as it’s received.

Although the FBI has not elaborated further about the threat at this time, it is our recommendation that you review and enhance your safety protocols and consider suspending any external activities until such time as we receive more detailed information.
 
Remain alert and vigilant and to take all security precautions to help protect our community. If you see something, say something by reporting it to 911 for emergencies, and 201-837-2600 for non-emergencies.
