Pedestrian Succumbs to Injuries Received in Sunday Night Collision

LOCATION: Cottonwood Avenue and Juniper Street, Hesperia
INVOLVED PARTY (1): Andrew Lopez, 31-year-old Male (Pedestrian), resident of Hesperia
INVOVLED PARTY (2): 35-year-old Female (Driver), resident of Hesperia
INVOLVED VEHICLE (2): 2017 Nissan Altima
SUMMARY: On Sunday, November 06, 2022, at about 10:29 p.m., deputies from the Hesperia Station and emergency personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a 2017 Nissan Altima, in the area of Cottonwood Avenue and Juniper Street, in Hesperia.
Through preliminary investigation, it is believed the Andrew Lopez walked north, along the north lane of Cottonwood Avenue and the Nissan traveled north on Cottonwood Avenue. Lopez was struck by the Nissan in the north lane of Cottonwood Avenue. As a result of the collision, Lopez succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Investigators from the Hesperia Station Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded and assumed the investigation. It is still under investigation whether or not drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in this crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to contact Deputy D. Holland or Deputy I.
