INCIDENT: Robbery, Grand Theft Auto, Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: Apple Valley Liquor, 17993 State Hwy 18 in the Town of Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Vallentino Leon VeltriMartinez, 18-year-old resident of Apple Valley
VICTIM(S): 60-year-old Male Resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Monday, November 7, 2022, at approximately 6:35 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department were dispatched to Apple Valley Liquor at 17993 State Hwy 18 in the Town of Apple Valley for a robbery report.
The suspect, later identified as Vallentino VeltriMartinez, stole energy drinks from the location and upon exiting, was confronted by the victim. VeltriMartinez struck the victim in the head with the energy drink and fled in the victim's truck, west on Hwy 18. VeltriMartinez drove into opposing lanes, colliding with a vehicle before crashing into the side of the hill on Stoddard Wells Road. A tow truck driver witnessed the incident, followed VeltriMartinez, and blocked him until deputies arrived. A felony traffic stop was initiated but VeltriMartinez did not initially comply. VeltriMartinez was arrested a short time later and was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance.
VeltriMartinez was transported to the High Desert Detention Center, where he was booked for Robbery, Grand Theft Auto, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon. VeltriMartinez is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
