Traffic Stop Leads to Firearm and Narcotics Arrest

INCIDENT: Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance
LOCATION: Zuni Road & Serrano Road, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Jacob Hutchinson-Rangel, 25-year-old resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at approximately 12:37 a.m., Deputy Alarcon with the Apple Valley Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Honda Fit, for a vehicle code violation. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Jacob Hutchinson-Rangel, was driving on a suspended license and found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine. During a search of the vehicle, Deputy Alarcon located a loaded firearm.
Hutchinson-Rangel was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for possession of a controlled substance and carrying a loaded firearm. He is currently being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
