“Coffee with a First Responder”
On November 9, 2022 members from the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, Army Corps of Engineers New Lake Hogan Rangers and “Roads Home” (veteran support services organization) attended coffee with a first responder event hosted at the Valley Springs Starbucks.  Coffee with a first responder allows law enforcement members to interact with citizens to discuss issues and learn more about each other.  Citizens bring a wealth of knowledge about their community, particularly the problems unique to their neighborhoods.  The knowledge gained by law enforcement will assist in identifying problems and providing solutions that affect the quality of life issues throughout our community.
On November 10, 2022 Deputy Schlarb (USMC) and Deputy Johnson (Army) attended the "Freedom Day Event" at the Mark Twain Shopping Center, Angels Camp. The event was coordinated by local Calaveras County Veteran Services Employees and focused on providing services to veterans. Services included peer support, employment opportunities from Sierra Pacific Industries, Toys for Tots, cellular phones and free dental care from First Impressions Dentistry. During the event, Dr. Shannon Russell was presented a certificate of Congressional Recognition from The Office of Tom McClintock (U.S. representative for California's 4th congressional district) for his efforts in supporting the well-being of veterans.
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is proud to support efforts to provide services and awareness to Veterans.  We are also honored to work alongside veterans now employed at the Sheriff’s Office.  They continue to provide service and safety to the communities as Deputies, Correctional Officers and Volunteer Staff.
