INCIDENT: Unlawfully Carrying a Concealed Firearm in a Vehicle and Carrying a Loaded Firearm with Prior Felony Convictions, Carrying an Unregistered Firearm, Prohibited from Owning Ammunition, Evading a Peace Officer
LOCATION: Intersection of La Paz Drive and Pebble Beach Drive, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Kyrian Kelley, 30-year-old Male Transient of Victorville
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at approximately 11:09 a.m., Deputy DeCoud and Deputy Moreland from the Victorville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration, driving on La Paz Drive in Victorville.
During the traffic stop, the driver, Kyrian Kelley, was non-compliant and accelerated his vehicle at a high rate of speed, away from the deputies. He drove through red stop lights, stop signs, and into opposing lanes of traffic at speeds up to approximately 100 mph. The deputies pursued Kelley until he crashed his vehicle and fled on foot. As Kelley ran away, he threw a handgun in the yard of a residence. The deputies detained Kelley and recovered the firearm.
Kelley was found to be on felony probation for vehicle theft. He was arrested for six felony charges including carrying concealed firearm in a vehicle with a prior felony conviction, carrying a loaded firearm with a prior felony conviction, carrying an unregistered loaded firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, prohibited from owning ammunition, evading a peace officer with a disregard for safety.
