House Fire Leads to Illegal Cannabis Manufacturing Operation
On October 18th 2022, Officers from the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the 1800 block of Locust St. for a radio call of an “Agency Assist.” The Ventura County Fire Department was on scene of a structure fire and requested police assistance for a disturbance at the residence.
Patrol Officers arrived at the location and observed evidence that an occupant of the residence was possibly manufacturing Concentrated Cannabis. Detectives from the Special Investigations Unit were contacted and they responded to the location.
SIU Detectives initiated an investigation into the possible illegal manufacturing of Concentrated Cannabis and eventually served a search warrant at the location. The results of the search warrant yielded the following:
- Approximately 72 pounds of Cannabis concentrate in “wax” form
- Approximately 28 pounds of Cannabis concentrate in “oil” form
- Approximately 1200 Adderal pills
- Approximately 34 pounds of marijuana
- Approximately 21 pounds of Cannabis concentrate in smoking cartridges
- 140 “Magic Mushroom” Candy bars (psilocybin)
- 63 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
- 3 Firearms with ammunition- AR 15 Rifle, 12 gauge Shotgun and 9mm Pistol
- Approximately $75,000 in cash
